Subject: Thomas Wall Clock and Grandfather Case Built by a Teenager
I bought a Thomas Wall Clock Kit from you about 6 years ago. I never found
the time to assemble it so I gave the kit to my nephew Christopher Kuehnl as
a Christmas present 2 years ago as I knew he liked wood working. Christopher
is a farm boy and member of a 4-H club and needed a project for this years
county fair. This summer (2009) for his project, he assembled the clock kit
(with a few embellishments on the numbers and pendulum bob) and built a
grandfather clock case out of oak. The case was built using plans from a
wood working magazine. He had access to a neighbor's wood working shop. The
same neighbor provided advice on reading plans and advice on setting up the
tooling to cut the oak for the case. Christopher did all the measuring,
cutting, assembly, and finishing himself. He is 17 years old. Needless to
say he won Best of Show at this year's Winnebago County Fair, Oshkosh,
Wisconsin. I wonder what he will tackle next!!
Feel free to show the pictures on your website.
From The Clock Mechanics:
Christopher,
Congratulations! You are an inspiration to all young wood workers around the world! I am extremely pleased to have you as my "Woodworker of The year." You show the world creativity, talent and dedication. And what a beautiful clock! If I were a betting man, I would wager that you can do pretty much anything you put your mind to. Thank you for sharing all of this with us, Christopher.
All the best to you,
Steve Christian
